Michael J. Fitzpatrick graduated from Peru State College with a bachelor’s degree in history. He received a degree in law from Creighton University in Omaha, NE.
Michael worked as a police officer for 3 years before attending law school and is a graduate of the State of Nebraska Police Academy in Grand Island.
He also worked as an assistant attorney at Woodbury County in Sioux City, IA.
During his career as a Woodbury County assistant attorney, he served as the chief DUI prosecutor of the second largest county attorney’s office in the State of Iowa. He was also the head of the DUI division of that office.
After receiving the job of a public defender for the State of Iowa, he left the Woodbury County Attorney’s Office. He began his career as a defense attorney working in 5 different counties for the state of Iowa’s Public Defender’s Office.
Michael J. Fitzpatrick left the state of Iowa’s Public Defender’s office when he was offered a position with Douglas County Public Defender’s Office in Omaha, NE. The move allowed Mike to return to his hometown of Omaha to practice law.
After serving as a deputy Douglas County public defender, he was offered the prosecutor's position for the Omaha City Prosecutor’s Office. In October 2005, he left that position to enter private practice as a solo practitioner of law.
